Your data on this website

Privacy policy

What this independent Jev guide collects when you read or use the Playground, who receives it, how long it is kept, and how to contact us.

Independent guideLast checked Updated

The short version

We measure visits without recording what you type. Playground text goes to TypeSafe only when you run a check, and we do not store it.

Who is responsible

This website, What is Jev?, is operated by Edmunds Studio Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (“we” or “us”). It is an independent guide and is not affiliated with TypeSafe AI.

This policy covers this website only. Your TypeSafe account, the official Jev console and other sites we link to have their own policies. Contact: support@whatisjev.com

At a glance

  • You can read every guide without an account, sign-up or email address. The site shows no advertising.
  • We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics and a small set of first-party events, which our server also forwards to PostHog. None of them contain text you type.
  • A Playground check sends the text you entered, and any question, rules and options, to TypeSafe to produce the result. We do not store them.
  • Two first-party cookies support daily counting, rate limits and human verification. They contain no login or content.
  • On our server, records are daily hashes or aggregate counts, deleted after 2 to 90 days, plus the demo’s cost totals.

Reading the guides

Cloudflare Web Analytics. On whatisjev.com, pages load Cloudflare’s Web Analytics beacon. It collects aggregate traffic and performance information as described in Cloudflare’s data-collection documentation. The beacon is not loaded on preview sites or error pages, for recognizable browser automation, or in a browser marked for internal or test measurement.

First-party events. Pages send a small allowlisted set of events to this site’s own server: page views, expanded cases, 30 seconds of visible reading, template loads, Playground starts and completions, copied share links, continued reading and clicks on our iSomor link. Each event contains only the event type, page, language, registered scenario, template or article IDs where relevant, and a broad source category (search, X, direct, other or unknown). It never contains your text, questions, options, results, raw IP address, referrer, full URL or complete UTM parameters. Our server keeps daily counts. A page view or 30-second read is counted once per browser, page, language and day, using the daily cookie described below. Recognizable bots are excluded; our own internal and test visits are excluded or kept separate.

PostHog. After those checks, the server forwards the same events to a separate PostHog project in PostHog’s US region, to analyze page reading and Playground use. Each forwarded event carries the fields above and an identifier that our server derives from the daily cookie; it changes every day. The site does not load a PostHog browser script, record session replay or set a PostHog cookie.

Source category. To connect a visit with a broad source category, this tab’s sessionStorage holds only that category and the day. It resets on a new day and is cleared when the tab session ends. A source-article ID in a registered Playground link stays in page context, not in browser storage.

Other page features. The pricing calculator runs in your browser and does not send its inputs anywhere. On the use-cases page, an X post loads from X only after you press its load button; X may then process your device information under its privacy policy. Links to other sites take you to services whose own practices apply.

Using the Playground

What is sent. When you run a check, your browser sends the text you entered and, for a custom task, your question, Yes/No rules or option names and descriptions to our server, together with the site language and a random request ID. The server sends the task to TypeSafe’s Jev API using our API key and returns the result to your page. TypeSafe processes the submission under its privacy policy. We do not store your submission or its result on our server, and we do not publish them. Do not enter personal, confidential or sensitive information.

Human verification. A check may first ask Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm that a person is using the page. Its script loads only when verification is needed. Cloudflare processes signals such as your IP address and browser details for this purpose and may use its own cookies, as described in the Turnstile privacy addendum. After a successful verification, a first-party cookie remembers it for 30 minutes. Changing networks or clearing cookies may require verification again.

Abuse and budget limits. To enforce per-browser, per-IP and site-wide limits, our server keeps keyed, day-specific hashes of the daily cookie ID and of your IP address; it does not store the raw IP address. It also keeps the status of each request ID and the free demo’s cost totals. None of these records contain input text or model results.

In your browser. Your last five results stay only in page memory and disappear when you leave or refresh the page. Saving a draft is optional: one draft per language stays in this browser’s localStorage for up to 7 days, and expired drafts are removed when you return. You can delete a draft at any time. Results are never saved to browser storage. Anyone using the same browser can see a saved draft. Copying a task as an API request happens in your browser and sends nothing.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets only the first-party cookies below and no advertising cookies.

  • __Host-jev_browser: a random, signed browser ID for the current day, used for rate limits and to count a page view once per day. It is set when a page records an event or you run a check, contains no login or content, and expires at the next midnight in Shanghai (UTC+8), at most 24 hours later.
  • __Host-jev_verified: set after a successful human verification. It expires after 30 minutes and is not extended by use.
  • __Host-jev_analytics: set only when a page is opened with an analytics= link parameter, which we use to exclude our own visits from measurement or to mark test visits. It lasts one year unless cleared.
  • sessionStorage jev-source-v3: the broad source category and day for the current tab.
  • localStorage jev-custom-draft:v1:<language>: your optional Playground draft, kept for up to 7 days.

How long records are kept

  • Hashed rate-limit counters and daily reading deduplication: 2 days.
  • Request status by random request ID: 7 days.
  • Aggregate event counts on our server: 90 days.
  • Daily and monthly demo cost totals: 65 days. The lifetime cost total has no expiry. They contain amounts only.
  • Playground submissions and results: not stored on our server.
  • Events forwarded to PostHog: 1 year, the event retention of our PostHog plan.
  • Connection and Web Analytics data held by Cloudflare: kept under Cloudflare’s own policies.

Cloudflare’s storage recovery features can keep copies for a limited time after our records expire.

Hosting

The site and its server functions run on Cloudflare. As with any website, Cloudflare processes connection information such as IP addresses, browser details and requested pages to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under the Cloudflare privacy policy. Our own diagnostic logs record only a fixed processing stage and error code, never your text, results or IP address.

Who receives data

  • Cloudflare: hosting and security for every request, Web Analytics, and Turnstile when verification is needed.
  • PostHog: the allowlisted events described above, with an identifier that changes daily.
  • TypeSafe: the content of a Playground check you run.
  • X: device information, only if you choose to load the X post.

The site loads no other third-party scripts, fonts or advertising.

Your choices

  • Read without submitting. Reading needs no account, and running a check is always your decision.
  • Clear cookies and storage. Your browser settings can delete this site’s cookies and storage. Closing the tab clears sessionStorage, and the Playground can delete a saved draft.
  • Block scripts. The guides remain readable without JavaScript, although the Playground needs it. Without scripts, the analytics beacon and first-party events do not run.
  • Contact us. For questions about this policy or requests about your information, email support@whatisjev.com. Most records described here are daily hashes or aggregate counts that we cannot link to a particular person. Describe what you need and we will tell you what, if anything, we hold. Please do not include sensitive content in your email. For data that TypeSafe, Cloudflare, PostHog or X hold under their own policies, you can also contact them directly.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when these practices change; the date at the top shows the latest change. Shorter notices appear in About and on the Playground. The English edition is the baseline for the translations.
